a boy's eye view
i have had the joy of having a boy's eye view of the world for the past 6+ years. i laugh a lot.
isaiah is learning to use the bathroom. at the same time, he is trying his hand at humor. combine the two, and you get statements like (gross alert), "i have to pee as bad as a crab poops." strange, but it did make his brother laugh, so i guess he made his point on some level.
joey is learning the adult game of sarcasm, though it wears much cuter on him. listening to smashing pumpkins, he questioned, "mom, did you like this song when you were a kid?" i tell him it was closer to my teen/college years. "oh, you mean when you were a young woman?" i ask what he thinks i am now. "uh, a MOM." thanks, kid.
in other boy worlds, we offer congrats to my sister and her husband as they welcomed Brodie Ryan into their lives on April 5th. see the cutie at www.blogoffive.blogspot.com.
we are going to the park, spending time with friends, handling tantrums in the middle of stores, eating thai food and pizza, gardening and running pretend stores. we look to fill you in a bit more on our joyous times as well this summer. wishing you a good weekend.

I'm so glad m kids aren't the only ones having tantrums int he middle of stores, or at meals, or baths or... well, it's been a rough week. But right now, I get the joy of quietly watching them work together as the distribute legos in as many rooms as possible. At least they are working together;)
I love reading your posts. You often remind me to let go and let them be kids.
It is so wonderful to hear about crab poop this early in the morning - I needed that!!! seriously, kids and their humor make life so much lighter to bear! We look forward to stopping in this summer when we are in town. Congrats to Cole and Ryan! There are certainly some cool differences between boys and girls. glad to see the sun again :) peace and blessings a
It's so good to "hear" your voice, Jen. And I think I can even catch a little of the laughter. I find such joy in "listening" to all you young mothers dialog about your children. In some odd sort of way it makes me feel young. I love traveling back in time and if it helps you any, I remember the joyous times much more readily than those times that were challenging!!
Enjoy your week.

and i think you are pretty cool and hip "uh, mom".

And what a joy it is to hear the spontaneous "I love you" at different times and in different places. . . and how exciting it is to know we have a real magician in our midst . . . and what fun it is to make plans with an assurance that these plans will probably come to fruition . . . and how encouraging it is to hear the boys negotiating and bargaining all on their own . . . and Isaiah "trying to decide" which book he wants to read and wanting to "help" in the kitchen. . . and Joey telling stories to Isaiah that make him respond with a "wow"! It is really wonderful to hear these upbeat stories even though we know from time to time the family deals with "downbeat" traumas, as well! We love you! GGV
