capricorn...

i'm not sure what this means for me and isaiah, but here's the chicago tribune astrology desk's call for capricorn today:

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Today is an 8. You've learned a great deal the past few weeks, and you're nowhere near finished yet.

we surrender.

Joe and Family,

I've been checking your blog daily to learn about what's happening with your son. I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you strength during this difficult time.

Take care,
Sara

you HAVE learned a great deal in the past few weeks, and may never know all that has gone on. but with all you have learned, know that you are also great teachers. as i try to imagine you in picu each day i try to learn the patience, caring, love and devotion that you are able to demonstrate even when things aren't going smoothly. but most importantly you have taught people about faith. and i think that is the most imnportant thing anyone can learn. your loving brother jim

Today is an 8. Temporary frustration gives way to something more like sheer delight.

I had to check in to see what today's outlook was for all of you. I like to think yesterday was a misprint....today's call is much better. Hoping for digestion on this cold cold thursday. we love you all

I love it - I love it! I thought it was Cole's wishful thinking until I checked the "sign" myself! SHEER DELIGHT! It is about time, isn't it - for Zaya to digest healthy food, for fevers to fade into the background - for infections to disappear - for breathing to come easier - for HOME to reenter the realm of possibility? All those ready for that news RAISE YOUR HAND! See God, we are waving at you. It is time, it is time for SHEER DELIGHT! We love you, our dear loving, frustrated, impatient, steadfast, brave, faithful family! Consider yourselves "lifted up", if even for the moment! Grandma and Grandpa Voss

When Jen & I were roommates in college we used to play the dictionary game. This game consisted of me flipping open the dictionary picking a random word, and no matter the word, to my astonishment, Jen would always recite the definition from the top of her head. This became somewhat of an English lesson for me.
This week I had another English lesson. I learned that the words Team, Love, Support, Balance, and Faith are all defined and spelled the same way: JJJ&I.
I learned that two brothers sitting on a hospital bed smiling and discussing robots and trains defines the word Smile.
I learned that a husband and wife exchanging questions, ideas, hugs, and sleepless nights defines the word Marriage.
That stories and smiles, with some worry mixed in, exchanged over a Jamocha shake spell Sister.
I learned that discussions of spirituality, and the balance of frustration and joy, in a Meijer parking lot define the word Friendship.
That blogging, and messages of support, hope and love help to spell Family.

I echo Jon's words, it was very tough to leave Chicago. They are a beautiful and amazing family navigating the questions life drops in their laps. Thank you for letting us walk with you and for taking the time to post. Thanks also for places like the Ronald McDonald home that offer amazing support and a place, although nowhere near home, a place to briefly rest your head and heart.

Offering up prayers for winning the fight against infection and successful digestion of food.

Continuing to stand with you.
Love always, Ame & Matt
