Jen Joe Joey & Isaiah

another lazy sunday....

laying around in the ICU with isaiah while joey, jen and ame hit navy pier and the children's museum there. watching the nba while isaiah dozes, and i love toy trains while he's awake. he's been pretty run down the last couple of days, and his blood cultures from thursday did grow some staph- which could partly explain his general fatigue. but it's hard to say if that result was a fluke, or if it's something bigger. cultures take a long time, which is always part of the frustration here- and they test his blood every day. i want to take a tour of the lab here to see how that whole process works at some point.

hoping to try feeding isaiah tomorrow, and get back to full days off of the ventilator. hope your sunday is pleasant. missing the rhythms of normal life- like olivia's birthday party, shoveling the driveway and going to church.

Wish it was summer so the "Joey " activities didn't involve defying the temperature. I am sure it is good for Jen to blow the PICU environs out of her system for a change, though. Do hope you get to snooze a bit while Isaiah does but the atmosphere there probably does not lend itself to much snoozing. May envisioning "home sweet home" strengthen you with hope and encourage you to deal with one more day where you will NEVER be comfortable! We love you, Grandma and Grandpa Voss

wish we were there (except for sharing our constant colds). lazy sunday here too. tinkering with electronic experiments, heading up to sunday dinner at the potts' for russ's fried chicken, then the Duke game on the DVR. I know there might not be much news from there, but good to hear what's going on.

Infections are never good, hoping that the "big guns" are helpful and that ugly bug leaves much like the doctor on Friday - slinking out of the room with many apologies. How dare anyone or thing bother our dear family! I know doctors from a different angle and trust me they need to spend more time on "what to say when" classes...I know it is hard to patient with them and their social fauxpaux (I don't speak French is that right Jen?"- lol). Spending all our love - snow covered and all. a
