It's cold in Chicago
We have been able to coax some responsiveness from isaiah last night and this morning, which is a good sign from a neurological standpoint. He still has a fever, and since his liver is compromised we can't use tylenol- so we're trying some other stuff- bigger, badder antibiotics, cold packs, etc. The liver docs are being consulted about whether or not there is room for tylenol, since if the fever doesn't break pretty soon the alternative is to heavily sedate him so we can use colder packs and physically cool him down. That's not a great alternative from where we stand because we would likely have to wait a while before we catch a glimpse of the kid we came here with.
So adding the liver docs puts us up to 7 different medical services on the case right now- ICU docs, neurosurgey, neurology, cardiology, electrophysiology, ENT and liver.

hoping and praying today that you get more signs from Isaiah, without too many set backs. i can't imagine the anguish of watching the hours pass just waiting for cues from your son. as always our hearts and minds are on you today. hoping in some small way you can feel us. bundle up as you head out to starbucks, or potbellies to refuel yourselves. (your oldest potbelly is keeping the laughs flowing in michigan......)

Every step is - at least - a step and we like you, we are sure, are holding on to any positive sign that is given. We hope the "liver" specialists have a clue about bringing down that fever to avoid the less offensive alternative! Peace (wherever you can find it), GGV
Prayers out to all of you, doctors included - we will continue to count on their expertise. Hopefully the wonderfully simple tylenol will be an option soon. bleassings

We will wait and continue to pray that his fever breaks soon - whether or not He chooses to use 'medical' intervention. Love, Cecilia
I'm so happy to hear you've gotten some response from Isaiah. May that continue to happen. Here's hoping that fever breaks soon.
Lots of love,
Liz
It's good to hear of the small yet mighty responses. It must be endlessly frustrating and frightening in the waves between. Keep warm and let me know if I can ship some bagels, lox, and love there for the meantime.

Joe & Jen, my thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and the medical staff taking care of Isaiah. May God grant you His peace and comfort. In difficult times He is the greatest source of strength. God bless! Karen Shively
