Back in the saddle
It is exactly one week, minus a few hours, before a drive to Children's Memorial Hospital, and Chicago. These things go through my head: my favorite Chicago resale shops, dependence on others, siblings and toys. And always, anguish. I imagine the other thoughts. In Isaiah's head: more time with Mary Beth's long, straight hair, a need to pack security and a fear and expectation of pain. Joey: a chance to play with his wonderful cousins, Ronald McDonald's playroom and an undercurrent of stress. Joe: job security that only withstands so many hospital visits, exhaustion and of course, that this may be the straw that breaks his wife's back. In the face of this, we laugh and I cry and a fifth birthday comes. There is work and wine and Scooby-Doo mysteries. And always, always, there is you, our family, our friends, our gifts.
We wish you to be ever mindful of the gifts: a humorous comic, a grating habit, a silent walk.
Let yourself be reminded that you are alive, and imperfect, and loved.

Sorry, so what's happening next week? Is this the reschedule of the one they sent you back on before Thanksgiving?
this is the spinal surgery, so we should be in a week or so. surgery is on the 24th of January.
Signed back on today in preparation for the 24th and was not surprised to see that Jon has been at it again This actually seems to be a little bit easier. Time will tell. Again I sit and cry at my desk at work...they already thought I was a little crazy so no big deal (lol). I do hope that we little the load, that in all our glorious imperfection we offer some lift. I look at your boys and think about how beautiful they are, different yet cut from the same clothe. Blessings to you all as you journey to the hospital...may peace and security be yours. abw
